:D The northern lights are awesome. We can see them sometimes here in Nevada, out in the middle of nowhere.

That is so amazing! Here we can barely see the stars, let alone miraculous northern lights on this side of the earth  but then again deserts can be pwetty :aww:

The area around my grandma's ranch has some of the cleanest air quality in the country, and I doubt there's more than about 2000 people living in a 60 mile radius around them so light pollution is literally non-existent. It's amazing to look up at night and see the clouds of stars going across the middle of the sky. The Milky Way is so bright out there.... They're a little too far south to get many views of the Northern Lights, but every once in a while you can see them.

Nevada is a desert, too. I love it. I love being able to look out the windows and see for 40 miles too the enormous mountains jutting up all around. :D

A ranch! How neat! I was just reading this book Montana Sky by Nora Roberts (She writes sorta corny stories but I love em :P) It spoke about the life on a ranch and I thought it would be so amazing if I got on one
In my homeland, at my cousins place, we sit on the roof of her house, no railings on the side, and watch the sky... even if we can't see that many stars the clouds are there (yes big cloud fan as well) and sometimes a light beam from a nearby place is going round all over and it falls on the clouds and they look so pretty - the breeze is so cool and it is so peaceful up there

These memories are the best :D

:D I hardly remember back when they still had all the cattle. My grandpa died and the family decided to turn it into a farming operation, because cows are a lot more demanding than grass. The place is still awesome though. My dad was really into astronomy when I was a kid and we'd go out there and set up the telescope. Not to mention just standing outside with your head craned back is pretty amazing all by itself. And then there's the mountains around there which are beautiful.

This isn't actually their valley, but it's pretty close to what it looks like in winter. :D [link]

Wow :wow: that is amazingly pretty!! I'd like to buy a telescope myself some day - and my dearest wish is to see a sky filled with stars *sigh* :D Winters over here are really pretty.. you get to see the most beautiful skies - this one time I saw the sky during sunset and seemed like fire was zig-zagging it's way from the horizon... that was amazing :D

Sorry for the late response. The message just barely showed up in my inbox today! :o

Pretty. :D I always loved the sunsets here. We used to live up at the top of one of the hills overlooking the city, and the sunset over the mountains were always amazing. There were some years when everyday for months on end the sunsets would be neon orange and pink and purple. :)

Oh dear... Neon! My friends usually find me weird for having my eyes constantly stuck to the clouds. I also have this knack of predicting rain. Once, my friend and I were walking and I told her that it would rain. She laughed at me and said that it didn't look like it would rain at ALL but then it rained :D Back in my country, once we got there during the stormy season - hurricanes passing really close by.. so during those times all I had to do was sniff at the air (you could smell the rain) and see if the wind stopped blowing and you could very easily tell that it was going to rain :D I love the rain too, probably because we get so less of it here. I am especially fond of storms during daytime

:D My friends just think I'm weird in general, so if I say I'd rather stand around outside and stare at the stars in the freezing cold they're like 'whatever.' :D Where are you from, then? I've always loved the rain. Probably 'cause growing up in the desert it wasn't very common. Moving to Texas where it rains all the time was (in some regards) a dream. But it was too flat, and too crowded down there.

In Nevada all you have to do is drive for an hour and you're away from everybody. There's little communities here and there but it's not like it is in Texas. Down there's literally a house every mile, even in the country. And it's all flat, no mountains. We lived up in the hills around Reno for 10 years, so we had amazing views of the city and the sky (not much pollution). And then whenever storms would roll in we'd get this fog hanging over everything. It was awesome.
